第十二讲 强调句
1. 强调句可以强调除谓语动词以外的各种句子成分
a. 句型结构：it is/ was + 被强调部分 + that/ who + 从句
b. Who只能用于修饰人
That用于一切人或物
强调句中不能用where或when
eg:一般的人讲英文能够传达信息，不一般的人讲英文不但能传达信息还能传递感情。
? They will have a meeting in the hall tomorrow.
? 强调主语：It is they that/who will have a meeting in the hall tomorrow.
? 强调宾语：It is a meeting that they will have in the hall tomorrow.
? 强调地点状语：It is in the hall that they will have a meeting tomorrow.
? 强调时间状语：It is tomorrow that they will have a meeting in the hall.
eg:
? 消费者是我们的衣食父母
? Customers pay our salaries.
? It is customers who pay our salaries.
? 知子莫若父
? A wise father knows his own son.
? It is a wise father that knows his own son.
eg:
? You know a fool plays it cool.
? You know it‘s a fool who plays it cool.
2. 固定句型
a. It was not until + 时间状语/状语从句 + that
eg:
? It was not until 2 o‘clock that he arrived home.
? He didn‘t arrive home until 2 o‘clock.
b. It was because + 从句 + that
c. It was because of + n. + that
eg:
? 正是因为梦想，所以我决定出国深造。
? It was because of my dream that I decide to go abroad and further my study.

? Governments should be dealing with the caused of poverty, not the results of it.
? It is the causes of poverty that governments should be dealing with, not the results of it.
