Sterling Ruby（斯特林·鲁比），美国艺术家，1972年出生于德国比特博格。他在芝加哥艺术学院取得美术学士学位后，又在加利福尼亚州的帕萨迪纳市艺术中心设计学院取得了美术硕士学位。斯特林·鲁比的艺术创作形式非常多样，包括雕塑、陶瓷、绘画、拼贴、影像以及大型装置等。
鲁比在作品中试图将矛盾对立的系统和观念融为一体。比如他创作的独块巨石雕塑，布满了摩擦和涂鸦的痕迹，仿佛磨损的纪念碑；又如他的抽象拼贴，由头骨、星云、刀片和陶瓷组成，散落在橘色荧光的背景上；还有其布面喷漆作品，将帮派领地纷争的印记中融入了马克·罗斯科艺术中朝生暮死的特质。鲁比也经常用陶瓷进行创作，并将其视作一种通用媒介。那些覆盖着厚重釉彩的不规则器皿，似乎是在烧制程中遭到了钙化；而由聚氨酯浇铸的石笋雕塑，则呈现出血红、漆黑及其他鲜艳的色彩。
鲁比的作品探讨了个体表达与社会制约发生冲突时产生的心理空间，是对当代社会中如瘟疫般蔓延的重压的记录和隐喻。他试图通过不断的实践呈现控制和释放这组对立的观念。通过对材质和内容的不断颠覆，鲁比锻造出的新作总是因其意想不到的美而更加引人入胜。
