The morning of January 6 was a special one for residents in North China, as a partial solar eclipse graced the sky. According to CGTN, the eclipse started from sunrise at 8.30am and ended at 9.41am, making for an exciting Sunday morning for professional and amateur photographers.
Pictures of the sun captured from all over the region flooded social media as early risers caught a glimpse of the celestial dance in action.

According to a Weibo post by Astronomy Online, the next partial solar eclipse is expected to occur December 26, 2019 from 11am to 3pm and will be visible from every part of the Chinese mainland. Mark your calendars!
