Fiddler for Peace at DCB 新加坡音乐人来访北京德威

On Wednesday 17th January, DCB welcomed to school Kai Yong, well known as the 'Fiddler for Peace', and his music partner Felix Phang to DCB. In the morning, the Junior Strings members were able to take part in a one hour workshop with the duo where they listened to a variety of different folk tunes from China, Ireland and Scotland, before looking at a piece called Beginner Blues. The students were encouraged to improvise an accompaniment to the song, using a standard blues chord progression.

 

In the evening, Kai and Felix kept everyone entertained with an even wider range of folk music styles in an interactive but informal concert held in the Edward Alleyn Theatre. They finished their concert by asking the Junior Strings to go back on stage and join them for a performance of Beginner Blues that they learned in the morning. A big thank you to Kai and Felix for their work with our younger students who learned a lot from working and playing alongside them, and a congratulations to the Junior Strings who showed, once again, what fantastic musicians we have in Junior School at DCB.

1月17日周三，德威学校迎来了著名音乐人Kai Yong（他以'Fiddler for Peace'为人所知）及其音乐伙伴Felix Phang。当天上午，小学部弦乐团成员与两位音乐家进行了一个小时的互动课堂，欣赏了来自中国、爱尔兰和苏格兰等不同国家的民谣歌曲。随后，他们还学习了一首名为初学者的蓝调（Beginner Blues）的优美曲目，并尝试使用标准蓝调进行曲格式为这首歌进行了即兴伴奏。

晚间，Kai和Felix在Edward Alleyn剧场举行了一场颇具互动性的非正式音乐会，让在场的每位观众感受到了各种民间音乐风格。音乐会结束之际，他们请小学弦乐队成员回到舞台，与他们一起表演了早上新排练的乐曲。感谢Kai和Felix为我们的小学生献上如此精彩的一课，孩子们在听课和表演中收获颇丰。祝贺小学弦乐队，又一次向我们展示了德威小音乐家们的风采！
