A leading MNC commercial bank is looking for Senior Unix Platform Engineer in Tianjin.

 

The Infrastructure Engineering & Automation teamprovides engineering, automation, product management, and development supportacross Technical Services for Corporate. This includes Platform, Storage,Database, Middleware, and Automation Engineering.

 

The Platform Engineering function covers Windows,UNIX, VMWare, Containers and Web, with presence in India, Singapore, Malaysia,and London.  This group is tasked withmodernizing SCB’s platform for and to deliver robust and scalable systems tomeet and exceed business demands. It follows standard engineering principlesfor gathering business and user stories, undertakes research, builds, tests anddevelops solutions ensuring that they are production read to move into themainstream operations group.

 

We are seeking a talented and motivated individualto join the platform engineering group with responsibilities around deliveringrobust and scalable systems to get ahead of the exponential demand.  The main areas of technical expertiserequired are around UNIX (AIX, Solaris), Linux, ansible, virtualisationtechnologies and automation.  This is afully hands on engineering role.  Thisperson should be able to influence and establish best engineering practices forthese technologies through solid design decisions, processes, and tooling.Automated deployment or user consumption of solutions is paramount.

 

Key Responsibility:  

-       Propose and evaluate new technologies forbusiness solutions

-       Interact with customers up to understandbusiness requirements and expectations

-       Establish best engineering practicesthrough solid design decisions, processes, and tools

-       Partner with operation aiding in criticalincidents with an emphasis on problem identification/resolution

-       Technical product qualification(benchmarking, suitability, performance characteristics) of relevant hardwareand software for use case requirements

-       Write server side code to create robustproduction offerings that are highly available, scalable and can cope withburst demand

 

Key Requirements:

 

-       Self-starter, capable of working withoutdirection and able to deliver projects from scratch

-       Demonstrates strong scripting andprogramming skills. Ideally in Python

-       Strong Ansible experience to automatedeployment and maintain environments

-       Strong knowledge of AIX

-       Good knowledge of Linux

-       Experience of writing tools to consumeRESTful API’s

-       Knowledge of how to design system to beable to achieve massive scaling

-       Able to provide site specific training tooperations group and lead day two operations strategy

-       Significant practical experience inperformance testing for software and systems tuning

-       Strong English communication skills

 

Highly Desirable

-       Breadth of knowledge – operating systems,networking, distributed computing

-       Prior experience in engineering containerenvironments within large organisations

-       Distributed storage productawareness/design/experience.
