Ebay Classifieds Group (eCG) is looking for a passionate and highly collaborative UX/UI Designer to join our growing team, based in San Francisco downtown. We are looking for critical thinkers and innovators to help us expand our footprint globally in the dynamic and dramatically-growing consumer-to-consumer/peer-to-peer, local commerce transaction classifieds business. Countries of focus are Vivanuncios in Mexico, Gumtree in South Africa and more. Our target users are from Asia, Latin America, Europe, and Africa.

As part of Ebay Classified Emerging Market’s team, you will be a part of a growing, global design culture. You will partner with cross-functional teams of designers, product managers and developers to create delightfully intuitive mobile-first design experiences.

As a UX/UI Designer for ECG’s Emerging Markets team, you’ll be in the unique position to help shape our products both at a macro and micro level and shepherd our relationships with our end consumers. You will work closely with and take design direction from our Sr. UX and Visual Design Leads to create UX and Visual Design deliverables that define features, functionality, pages, page states, and user flows from mobile to desktop and everything inbetween.

You already have a strong foundational knowledge of web design best practices, including mobile first and responsive web design methodologies and are eager to apply this to the classifieds business. You are comfortable working closely with developers to ensure your designs are technically well considered and feasible. A close collaboration with product managers helps you understand the business requirements driving the design, and you are able to balance those requirements with technical feasibility while delivering the best customer experience possible.

A successful UX/UI Designer at eBay demonstrates:

• Exceptional ability to communicate design ideas through use of verbal, written and visual presentation skills, including user flows, click through prototypes and/or storyboards.

• Hands on design skills – Your work demonstrates knowledge of user centered-design methodology. You are comfortable creating thoroughly considered wireframes, flow diagrams, mockups, and prototypes within tight timelines. You have strong interaction design and visual design skills.

• Your design decisions take into account quantitative analytics data and qualitative user research.

• You think globally, considering cultural variables while striving to create scalable systems.

• Able to design experiences that marry business requirements with the best customer experience possible while still considering technical feasibility.

• Able to confidently speak and defend your design decisions from a user-centered perspective and a place of business understanding.

• Are a strong team player. You build positive working relationships with team members, have a good sense of humor, and a positive attitude. You are willing to share your point of view without dismissing others and can take constructive feedback with grace and understanding.

• You will report to our Senior UX/UI Design Manager, Emerging Markets, and work closely with Product Managers, other global App Product teams, Analytics, Engineering, QA, Product Marketing, country Marketing, Customer Service and Sales teams, which are based in San Francisco and Portland in the U.S., China, Mexico, South Africa and more.

Requirements:

• Able to speak and write fluent English is required. Spanish speaker is not required but is a big plus.

• 5+ years of experience designing outstanding mobile and Responsive web experiences for a consumer oriented, ecommerce, forward-thinking in design company.

• Knowledge of Sketch, Photoshop, Axure, InVision, Proto.io (or similar prototyping software).

• BS/BA in User-centered design, HCI, Cognitive Science, or related field preferred.

• Must have a strong UX/UI Design portfolio showing mobile design samples.

• Experience in, or experience of working collaboratively with other Designers, Product Management, User Research, Development, and Analytics and QA teams in an agile environment

• Proven track of record of launching successful products.

• Strong communication and presentation skills, business sense, technical knowledge, and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, ambiguous and fast-paced environment
