Word of theday: Job
Topic: How much a job pays is more important than how much you like it.
Cleverness comes from diligence, accumulation leads to a genius.

Monday, we had our 57th meeting together. This week, we discussed the topic: how much a job pays is more important than how much you like it.
Our Thememaster, Winnie, brought us this question. When we graduate from university and step into the workforce, we will be faced with plenty of such choices. Is it the one you don’t like but pays high or the one you like but pays low? Therefore, the two teams debated this difficult problem.
To everyone’s delight, we had two new members, Mint and Austin. They are both very interested in English, so we are happy to welcome them into our growing family!
Our respectful President Thomas introduced our timer, George. His duty is to time everyone and make a report so that we can improve our abilities. He was very excellent, that’s why we could finish the meeting on time.
Then came Valeria. She is a new member who joined us last week. However, she did a good job! As the surprise topic master, she organized a little game. Five members were required to take only 4 things or people with them onto a boat. Through the interesting game, we learn a lot about the things that truly matter to us in life.
After that is the time to start the debate. In the affirmative team, we had Richard, Steven and Iris.
Ricardo, Neo and Stella were the negative team. The two teams took turns to express their opinions. To the affirmative team, the amount a job pays should be the main reason for us to choose one job over the other. Meanwhile, negative team held the view that how much we like a job is the key. Both teams gave out their views firmly and clearly, which really impressed us. Well done, debaters!
After the wonderful debating, the evaluators gave their suggestions based on the performances of the debaters. Our surprise topic evaluator Cassie delivered her report which is very helpful to Valeria and all of us.
Bobis our experienced friend. As the adjudicator, he showed us how to make our debating more convincing, and gave precious advice.
Selenais our general evaluator. She listened carefully all the time as well as taking lots of notes. She took a whole view of the meeting and gave the general evaluation. With her excellent work, our meeting ended perfectly.
Inthe end, we voted for the best roles. The result is exciting:
Stella, as the best debater
Winnie, as the best function role
Cassie, as the best evaluator
Mint, as the best surprise topic speaker
Winning team: Affirmative team (Richard, Steven and Iris )
Congratulations!
Afterthe meeting, there’s no doubt that we all gain a lot useful skills. Looking forward to the next meeting!
