Word of the day: principle
Topic: The impact of mottos on my life
On this happy Monday, Spark Club held its sixty-fourth meeting. At this week's conference, we had several new members; they were Rey, Ophelia, Xandy, and Erin. Welcome to the family!
Our new members all have different interests, Rey says she likes to watch TV, and Ophelia says she likes to make coffee, which sounds like an amazing hobby.
As usual, VPM Winnie introduced the rules of the meeting, and then our new members introduced themselves. The new members are very cheerful and unafraid of the stage, and everyone gets along very well.
Then, tonight’s Grammarian, Thomas, explained the Word of the Day (WotD) “Principle” and expressed the hope that we would try to use the word as frequently as possible during the meeting.
This was followed by the surprise topic section, where our surprise master Amber G set the scene for us:
In China, when you are in your 30s, you should get married. George played the role of a son, and our new members and Steven were members of his extended family that got together over Chinese New Year. They put on a great show. Their performance was so vivid that all the people present were greatly amused. George's relatives believed that if you are in your 30s, you should find a girl you like and start a family. But George said he was in no hurry
###The Impacts of Mottos on My life ###
This week our topic is “the impacts of mottos”. l believe everybody has a motto intheir mind and they grow up with the power of the motto. Today, three talented speakers talked about the topic.
First speaker, Skye, referred to China's famous hero, Zeng Guofan, and shared his story with us. Sometimes we need to seize the moment rather than worry about the future, Skye said. And we need to walk with love in our lives. I believe that we all grow up with love, and that's what makes us grow up.
The second speaker, Charmaine, shared a very sad story from her childhood. Charmaine says there may be people in our lives who leave us, but they live in our hearts. We need to learn how to deal with the loss of those around us. I think this is something we must all experience in our lives.
The third speaker is a handsome and fashionable boy, Eric Phoenix.
He had also prepared for his speech very carefully, and even made a PowerPoint! The boy introduced arap star named Eminem, who wrote a song called “Rap God”. Eric says his motto is a sentence from this song: “Why be a King if you can be a God?”
I think it's a really cool quote that inspires us to take things to the next level.
Time flies, and before we knew it we came to the conclusion of the meeting. Ah-counter Joanne, Grammarian Thomas, Quizmaster Cherish gave their reports to help us improve in the future. Then, our General evaluator Stella performed her role very well and summarized the meeting beautifully.
In the end, we voted for the best performers during this meeting. The results were very exciting:
Best speaker: Eric Phoenix
Best function role: Thomas
Best evaluator: Winne
Best surprise topic speaker: George
Congratulations!
Meeting Notes Hero: Cherish 余雅晴
So let’s meet next week!
