The album was conceived during the COVID-19 pandemic. Aaron Dessner of The National was isolating and quarantining with his family, when Swift had approached him in late April to write some songs remotely together.

得益于今天秋高气爽下着小雨适宜宅家听歌, 听podcast，刷到B站我霉新歌。其实发 歌于 2020.07.24 所以可见得我网速多慢了。这张唱片是疫情时代的产物，描绘了霉霉在病毒阴霾下隔离期间的私人感受，对旧日恋情的反思，对自己人生的反思。惊叹于她不惧变化的创造力，高产量输出 。

做霉粉一定是幸运的,反正我loop在Exile这首歌里面整整一下午了。所以想着这一刻一定值得被记录，就打开电脑写推送啦,开心的时刻值得被纪念，好听的歌值得被分享。
