现如今，3D打印技术被越来越多地运用到各个领域，包括食物。美国学生埃文·温斯坦发明了巧克力3D打印机，只要设计好图片，你就能打印出任何形状的巧克力。

Chocolatiers（巧克力生产者） may have just met their match.

An engineering student has designed a 3D printer that allows anyone to create custom chocolates on demand.

Users upload a file with a design or figure to the printer, load it with chocolate filled syringes（注射管） and watch their creation come to life.

The 3D printer, referred to as Cocoa Press, was developed by Evan Weinstein, a graduate student（研究生） in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania.

“I felt the technology had so much potential, and I wanted to challenge myself to do something innovative,” he said. “I think there’s something about food that people really connect to, and especially chocolate.”

Weinstein also saw a flaw（缺点） in the chocolate industry, as molds tend to be expensive—the average costs chocolatiers about $500 each.

He started developing the technology in high school and by his senior year of college, he had developed a working product.

Weinstein compares his printer to a popcorn machine seen at movie theaters—but produces something much different.

Each Cocoa Press comes with syringes that you fill with the chocolate of your choice. The system can be filled with other sweets, such as icing（糖霜）; the temperature and pressure just need to be adjusted.

“With the scanning technology, chocolate designs can have new textures and tastes regular bars do not,” Weinstein explained.

The Cocoa Press printer can be sold to food lovers and niche markets（小众市场）, but is not certified for food retail. Food-safe commercial kitchen certification is incredibly expensive.

So Weinstein’s plan is to reach out to local chefs in the future.

For now, he hopes to land 50 pre-orders by fall of 2020.
