Position: System Operations Engineer (SOE), Waze

Location: New York. NY

Responsibilities:

• Manage the availability, latency, scalability and efficiency of Wazw services by engineering reliability into software and systems

• Respond to and resolve emergent service problems; build tools and autmoation to precent problem recurrence

• Review and infulence new and evolving design, architecture, standards, and methods for operating services and systems

• Perform periofic on-call duty as part of a global team

• Participate in software and system performance analysis and tuning, service planning and demand forecasting

Minimun Qualifications:

• Practical experience

• Experience with Unix/Linux systems

• Experience with Python and Java

Preferred Qualification: 

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related field, and/or equivalent work experience

• Experience with distributed data warehousing and/or data mining systems with one or more "Big Data" ot NoSQL technologies (Hadoop. Hive, Pig, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.).

• Experience with analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems

• Analytical abilities, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive
