Discover AI with the president of Google Greater China

As an emerging technology, Artificial intelligence (AI) has raised concerns in many fields. 

Will AI be a threat for human beings in the future? Is it restricted to entities that meet a high technology threshold? Not everyone is certain about these issues.

The answer to our questions awaits.

Fortuitously, Scott Beaumont, the president of Google Greater China, will give a lecture on AlphaGo & AI for Everyone at Tsinghua University on September 21. 

Beaumont will begin with the story of the Go match between AlphaGo and Ke Jie at Wuzhen. He will also introduce the continuing innovation and improvement of AlphaGo.

The lecture will cover artificial intelligence and machine learning in fields such as 

• translation, 

• medicine, 

• and data centers. 

In recognition of future trends, Google has open sourced TensorFlow to make it accessible for everyone.  

AI has only just begun and it will solve more complex problems in the future.

About Scott Beaumont

 

Scott Beaumont is the President of Google Greater China, overseeing Google’s Sales and Operations in mainland China, Hong Kong Taiwan and Korea.

He joined Google at the beginning of 2009 from his own mobile start-up, Refresh Mobile, which he founded in early 2005. The primary product of this start-up was Mobizines, an award winning downloadable app in the days before iPhone and android made apps mainstream. 

He spent the early years of his career as an Equity Analyst for Telecoms at HSBC James Capel at a time that saw the advent of both the internet and mass scale cellular technology.

He is passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation and an active mentor to a number of start-ups and small businesses. He lives in Shanghai with his wife and two sons.
