《Extra Yarn》穿毛衣的小镇。在在2013年的凯迪克奖评选中，加拿大图画书作家乔恩克拉森与麦克巴内特合作以《穿毛衣的小镇》摘得银奖。 《穿毛衣的小镇》图画的造型风格有如剪纸，色彩从黑白逐渐过渡到彩色，在融合水墨、水粉和电脑制图的独特绘画技法，为我们讲述了一个温暖人心而又引人深思的关于财富，关于分享，关于快乐的故事。

冷冰冰小镇一个冬天的下午，小姑娘安娜贝尔在雪地里捡到了一个盒子，里面装着五颜六色的毛线。这看起来是个平平常常的盒子，里面装的是平平常常的毛线，可是事实并不是这样…… 安娜贝尔不停地织啊织，给小镇上所有的人、所有的动物、所有的房子都织了一件彩色毛衣……

Extra Yarn 穿毛衣的小镇

On a cold afternoon, in a cold little town, 

where everywhere you looked was either the white of snow or the black of soot from chimneys, 

Annabelle found a box filled with yarn of every color.

冬天里的冷冰冰小镇，除了白茫茫的雪，就只有烟囱里冒出的黑色烟灰了。

一天下午，小姑娘安娜贝尔在雪地里发现了一个盒子，里面装满了五颜六色的毛线.

So she went home and knit herself a sweater. And when Annabelle was done,she had some extra yarn.

So she knit a sweater for Mars, too. But there was still extra yarn.

安娜贝尔回到家，给自己织了一件毛衣，也给自己的小狗马尔斯织了一件彩色毛衣。

可盒子里还有剩下的毛线。

And when Annabelle and Mars went for a walk,Nate pointed and laughed and said,”You two look ridiculous.”

安娜贝尔和马尔斯出去散步，内特指着他们嘲笑道：“你们真好笑。”

“You`re just jealous,”said Annabelle.

安娜贝尔回应他说：“你嫉妒我们。”

“No,I`m not,”said Nate.

内特说，我才没有。

But it turned out he was. “其实，他就是在嫉妒。”

And even after she`d made a sweater for Nate and his dog, and for herself and for Mars,she still had extra yarn.

现在，安娜贝尔给她自己和她的小狗马尔斯，还要内特和内特的小狗都织了一条彩色毛衣，可盒子里还有剩下的毛线。

At school,Annabelle`s classmates could not stop talking about her sweater.

在学校里，同学们不停地对着安娜贝尔的毛衣叽叽喳喳。

“Quiet!”shouted Mr.Norman.  诺曼先生喊道：“安静。”

“Quiet,everyone!Annablle,that sweater of yours is a terrible distraction.I cannot teach with everyone turning around to look at you!”

“请大家安静！安娜贝尔，你的彩色毛衣严重扰乱了课堂秩序。大家都回头看你，我都没法上课了！“

“Then I`ll knit one for everyone,”Annabelle said,”so they won`t have to turn around.”

安娜贝尔回答说：”那我给每个人都织一件毛衣吧。这样他们就不会盯着我看了。“

“Impossible!”said Mr.Norman.  诺曼先生说：”绝不可能！你做不到。“

But it turned out she could.And she did.

但安娜贝尔就是能做到，而且她真的做到了。

Even for Mr.Norman.

甚至连诺曼先生也有份儿。

And when she was done,Annabelle still had extra yarn.

织完这些毛衣，安娜贝尔的盒子里还有剩下的毛线。

So she knit sweaters for her mom and dad.And for Mr.Pendleton and Mrs. Pendleton. And for Dr.Palmer.And for little Louis.

她又织了彩色毛衣给爸爸妈妈、胖墩儿先生、怕怕医生，还有小矮人路易斯。

She made sweaters for everyone, except Mr.Grabtree, who never wore sweaters or even long pants, and who would stand in his shorts with the snow up to his knees.

她给所有的人都织了一件彩色毛衣，除了不怕冷先生。

不怕冷先生从来都不穿毛衣和长裤。

他总是穿着背心和裤衩站在齐膝深的雪里。

“No sweater for me,thanks,”said Mr.Grabtree.

不怕冷先生这样说：“我不需要毛衣，谢谢。“

So she made Mr.Crabtree a hat.  

And even then Annabelle still had extra yarn.

于是，安娜贝尔就织了顶毛线帽，送给了不怕冷先生。这时候，安娜贝尔的盒子里还有剩下的毛线。

She made sweaters for all the dogs,and all the cats,and for other animals,too.

她给所有的小狗织毛衣，给所有的小猫织毛衣，给各种各样的动物织毛衣。

Soon,people thought,soon Annabelle will run out of yarn.

快了，人们念叨着，安娜贝尔的毛线就快用完了。

But it turned out she didn`t.

可是，她的毛线怎么用也用不完。

So Annabelle made sweaters for things that didn`t wear sweaters.

安娜贝尔开始给那些根本不穿衣服的家伙织毛衣。

Things began to change in that little town.

冷冰冰小镇穿上彩色毛衣变得和以前不一样了。

News spread of this remarkable girl who never ran out of yarn .And people came to visit from around the world,to see all the sweaters and to shake Annabelle`s hand.

冷冰冰小镇上有个女孩，她有一个神奇的盒子，里面装着用不完的毛线。“

这个消息越传越远，人们从世界各地赶来，欣赏安娜贝尔的毛衣，和她握手。

One day an archduke,who was very fond of clothes,sailed across the sea and demanded to see Annabelle.

有一天，以为特别爱打扮的公爵，漂洋过海来到冷冰冰小镇，他想见一见安娜贝尔。

“Little girl,”said the archduke,”I would like to buy that miraculous box of yarn.And I am willing to offer you one million dollars.”

公爵说：“小姑娘，想买下你的毛线盒子。我可以给你一百万美元。”

“No,thank you,”said Annabelle,who was knitting a sweater for a pickup truck.

“不，谢谢。”安娜贝尔头也不抬，她正在给一辆小货车织毛衣呢。

The archduke`s mustache twitched. “Two million,” he said.  Annabelle shook her head.

公爵的胡子抖动了一下。

“两百万”

“No thanks.”

安娜贝尔摇摇头。“不，谢谢。”

“Ten million!”shouted the archduke.”Take it or leave it!” “Leave it,”said Annabelle.

“一千万”公爵叫嚷起来，“就这些了，你卖还是不卖？”

“I won`t sell the yarn.” And she didn`t.

“不！”安娜贝尔回答：“我是不会卖的。”

她说到做到。

So that night the archduke hired three robbers to break into Annabelle`s house, and they stole the box and took it to the archduke, who set off across the snow,and sailed over the sea,back to his castle.

这天夜里，公爵雇了三个小偷。小偷溜进安娜贝尔的屋子，偷走了装毛线的盒子，把它带给了公爵。公爵冒着风雪，漂洋过海，回到了他的城堡。

The archduke put on his favorite song and sat in his best chair.Then he took ot the box,and he lifted its lid,and he looked inside.

公爵坐在他最好的椅子上，听着他最喜欢的歌。

他取出盒子，打开盒子，往里一瞧——

His mustache quivered. It shivered.It trembled. The archduke hurled the box out the window and shouted, “Little girl,Icurse you with my famil`s curse! You will never be happy again!”

他的胡子颤抖了，胡子哆嗦不停，胡子被气得奓（zhà）了开来。

公爵使劲儿把盒子扔出了窗外，大声喊道：“臭丫头，我要诅咒你，让你永远得不到快乐。”

it turned out she was. 安娜贝尔却过得那么快乐。
